Carrie Ferrin
Mathematics teacher for Grades 5 - 8
Carrie is a veteran teacher with 24 years of experience teaching middle school mathematics. She spent 22 of those years at Milton Academy, where she wore many hats, including grade-level dean, facilitator of A.C.T. spaces (affinity, culture, and training groups), DEIJ committee member, coach, creator of identity curriculum, faculty mentor, and advisor.
Carrie has always had a deep passion for mathematics and is committed to fostering a love of learning in young minds, particularly at the middle school level. She strives to make mathematical concepts relatable and accessible to students and believes every student has the potential to succeed in math. Carrie encourages a growth mindset by providing a supportive learning environment and tailoring instruction to meet each student’s needs.
In addition to her extensive teaching experience, Carrie holds a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University. She pursued this degree to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues in DEIJ efforts. She believes that as educators, we have a responsibility to include all students in achieving their full potential, feeling challenged, being empowered by their identity, and participating effectively in a diverse society.
Carrie recently moved to New Bedford and is enjoying exploring what the Greater NB area has to offer. She is also a proud mom to her 13-year-old son.
