Academic Overview
We offer an extended school day from 8:00 am - 5:15 pm that allows for a rigorous and robust learning schedule including:
Comprehensive, literacy-rich core academic instruction
Community Core social and emotional learning curriculum
Community as Campus approach that integrates field work, local partnerships, and action for social justice
Daily access to Outdoor Classroom and school garden
1:1 Chromebook laptops for each student
Evening Study from 4:15 -5:15 pm for supervised homework completion and academic support
Visual and performing arts including music, theater, dance, studio and digital arts
Strong foundation in design thinking, natural sciences and STEAM
Sports, physical fitness, and developmentally-appropriate health and wellness education
Project-based learning, public speaking, and electives that foster student voice and choice
Tutoring, mentoring, and counseling opportunities
Preparation and support for transition to high school
OSS is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England, a member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools, and recognized by the New England League of Middle Schools as a 2019 Spotlight School.
